Client: A long established nationwide Builders Merchant which was growing its operations and looking to upkeep its image accordingly. The Client operates from warehouses where their customers select their own products.

Project: A bespoke trolley for use by the Client’s customers in their self-select warehouses. The trolleys needed to have supports and a sturdy base to carry large items and baskets or similar to carry smaller items.

Details: The design of these trollies was initiated by the Client to compliment their long term plans of expansion and improving their brand image. As a firmly established company, the Client had many years of experience in their field and therefore had very clear views of a trolley design that would work well to handle their products.

The shape of the trolley included an angled central support and flat bed for the purpose of resting and leaning boards and sheet material. To compliment this were outside uprights running along half of each side of the trolley to prevent boards and sheets form toppling off the trolley. The handle of the trolley also incorporated a wire basket designed to hold smaller items with this being conveniently placed to the user whilst selecting products.

A choice of finishes was discussed. Due to the potential knocks that the trolley would have to endure because of the anticipated heavy usage, powder coating was disregarded. The options of electroplating and galvanised were offered and the Client decided to trial both options. After ironing out minor design modifications, the Client placed a large order and the trolleys were placed in the Client's outlets throughout the country. The rest is history. This client continues to place repeat order with us and you may have even used this trolley yourself in one of their outlets.

We think that one of the reasons for the success of this trolley is the attention to details in the design stage. Our designers strongly believe that taking the time to get the initial design right will pay off and result in continued customer satisfaction.
