Client: This project was the brainchild of one of the company's founders.

Project: A trolley designed to lift, transport and lower baskets of bread from floor to pallets and also bread dollies and used by a single operator.

Design: The Basketeer design was patented on 29 January 1980. The Basketeer was awarded a CE mark on 19 July 2010. The CE marking certifies that a product has met EU consumer safety, health or environmental requirements.

Basketeer

Details: Whilst working in the manual handling industry, one of our founding Directors identified a gap in handling needs and came up with the Basketeer as a solution.

In the baking industry, bakeries regularly needed to lift, transport and lower baskets of bread from floor to pallets and also bread dollies. Due to the fact that the three applications are at different heights, the basket has been designed with toe foot pedals to allow the operator to select the desired height.

The basketeer was designed to address these problems whilst being used by a single operator. Also with increasing tightening of Health and safety controls on the maximum loads that are safe to be lifted, the need for this dolley was becoming stronger.

The Basketeer incorporates arms to lift, hold and move standard bread baskets safely and would also be required to move tonnes of product each week. After the initial design was drawn up and prototype made, there followed a long process of design changes working with many British bakeries.

The final design did not require recharging as not electrically operated and also the simple design enabled it to be repaired on site.

The design was later developed to allow two stacks of baskets to be lifted at one time.

This product continues to be manufactured by Bluetrolley, often adapted with different design modifications to suit a new customer need. The original Basketeer design remains as a standard equipment item in all bakeries.
